The Group of Eight Universities (Go8) is the most leading intensive-research based Australian universities. The group was formed in 1999 and headquarter is in Canberra, ACT, Australia. The Go8 universities are the largest and oldest universities in Australia. They are consistently highly ranked amongst the other Australian universities. All the Go8 universities are ranked among the 150 universities in the world according to rankings of QS, THE, ARWU and US News. Go8 is a leader in influencing the development and delivering the sustainable higher education and research policy. It alsohelps in developing an international alliances and research partnerships in most of the industries in Australia.

Most of the times, Go8 Universities are compared with the famous Russell Group Universities which are also research based universities located in different parts of UK.   5. University of Queensland, Brisbane- established in 1909 and ranked 43rd in the world according to QS rankings.

  6. Monash University, Melbourne- established in 1958 and is ranked 42nd in the world according to QS ranking.

  7. University of Western Australia, Perth- established in 1911 and ranked 72nd in the world according to QS rankings.

  8. University of Adelaide, Adelaide- is the 3rd oldest university in Australia established in 1874 and is ranked 89th in the world according to QS rankings.
